This mural for Nike HQ in Portland started the same way everything does — a blank surface, a mark, a face beginning to emerge. Liu Xiang and David Oliver, two of the greatest hurdlers in the world, rendered at a scale where every decision becomes architectural.

At that size the drawing doesn't lie. There's nowhere to hide a hesitant line or an uncertain passage. It either holds or it doesn't.
